In the reign of King Vikramaditya, the fame of the city of Ujjain was spread all around.
In the court of King Vikramaditya, more than one scholar adorned his court and he had a committee of nine experts who used to advise the king on every subject and the king used to take decisions related to the Raj Kaj according to his advice.
Once a debate was held on Aishwarya, then there was also talk of death.
When the king came to know that the majesty of King Sheshnag of Hades is worth seeing and all the comforts are available in his world.
Since he is one of the special servants of Lord Vishnu, his place is equivalent to that of the gods. Man's life is blessed with his philosophy.
Vikramaditya decided to go to Sashir Patal Lok and meet him. He recalled both the hospitals. When he appeared, he asked them to take him to Hades.
When Betal brought him to Patal Lok, he got all the information given about Patal Lok right. The whole folk was clean and well organized. The whole world was shining with diamonds and jewels.
When Sheshnag received the news that a body had arrived from the dead, he met him.
King Vikramaditya told him with full respect and humility the purpose of his arrival and introduced himself. Sheshnag became so happy with his behavior that he gifted him four miraculous gems while walking.
The first gem could be obtained from the mouth.
The second one could give all kinds of clothes and jewelery on demand from the gemstone.
Every kind of chariot, horse and palanquin could be obtained from the third gem.
With the fourth gem, one could achieve religious work and fame. Both of the betals provided by Kali appear on remembrance and disappear by bringing Vikram to the boundary of their city.
The four gems had entered their city that they were greeted by a familiar Brahmin.
He told the king to know about his visit to Hades and to get the gems, that his subjects have participation in every achievement of the king. King Vikramaditya, considering his intentions, asked him to take a gemstone of his own will.
The Brahmin was confused and said that only after consulting every member of his family would someone decide.
When he reached home and told the whole thing to his wife, son and daughter, the three expressed their interest in three different gems. Still the Brahmin could not reach any conclusion and in this mental state reached the king.
Vikram laughed and gifted him all four gems.
The next day Vidyavati stopped Raja Bhoja from sitting in Singhasana.
